We have a mouse

And no, he doesn't have on white gloves and red shorts and call himself Mickey. He is a nasty, beady-eyed rodent. Now let me tell you that we live outside of city limits, and we have fields all around us, and this definitely isn't the first mouse experience we have had. In fact, at one time, we were popping traps every night it seemed. Then we finally got neighbors on both sides of us that kept their yards mowed, and it seemed to stop. I am guessing that with the weather not being able to make its mind up, the mice are still looking for a warm place to stay. But even this winter, we haven't had any. Until now......

I saw him about 4 nights ago while Robbie and I were out in the living room watching a movie. And I never saw him again after that. So I thought that maybe he left, and that was it. Nope. I saw him again last night while Robbie and I were watching TV in the living room out of the corner of my eye. He scared me so bad that I thought I was going to have a mini heart attack right there. I am not one of those that believes that the mice are harmless creatures. They might be, but I don't like anything, other than dogs, if it has a tail. I never had gerbels or hamsters or ferrets or any of those rodents growing up. While we were sitting there watching TV, he runs out of the kitchen, looks at us, I quickly jump up in my recliner, and he runs along the baseboard and clearly he is laughing at us the whole time, and then runs behind the couch. We were watching The Office, and I told Robbie that he might as well turn it off because now I won't be able to concentrate. So Robbie set a trap last night for him before we went to bed. And guess what? He wasn't on the trap this morning when we got up.

So once Robbie left for work, I turned the kitchen light on, the living room light on, and my bedroom light on. Most mice don't like it when there is any sort of activity going on. They won't come out if there is. Even if I am not in the room, supposedly they don't like lights either because it might mean there is activity going on in that room. So I am sitting here at my computer in our bedroom, and the little bastard runs in and runs behind the night stand. I quickly jump up on the bed (not sure I have ever moved that fast), and I kick the nightstand. He runs out, goes over by the door, looks at me and smiles, and then runs back in behind the nightstand. I kick the nightstand again, and he runs out. Not sure where he is now, but I am wholed up in my room and planning on leaving the house as soon as possible. I refuse to sit in the house all day with the mouse.

I wonder if my Grandma would be up for a 7am visit..........

From this.....to this!

It is hard for me to believe that on Saturday, February 27th, Colt turned 6 months old!!! I wanted to write a post about him on that day, but we weren't home hardly any on Saturday or Sunday. So I am just now getting to write it.

Colt has been such a blessing for this family! The year 2009 was a very hard year for us. And we are still feeling the effects of 2009 (more on that later). Colt being born was our big highlight of 2009, and for that, we are very thankful! He adds so much to our little family. He is always smiling, laughing, and in a good mood. Well that is unless he is hungry or sleepy. Then he cries so loud that it makes you want to run for the hills and not look back. Seriously. It is an eagle screech plus some.

It seems like just yesterday I was here and miserable.

And then not much longer after that, Colt was here!

And now 6 months later, Colt is starting to sit up on his own. He isn't all the way there yet, but he is getting there.

And he's eating baby food.

And he has 2 teeth on the bottom!

And he is enjoying the park with his older brother, Clay!

It is just unreal to me how fast they grow. And how much they start doing within the first 6 months of being born. I want him to be able to play with Clay so much, but I also don't want him to leave this stage either.

On another note....

I have officially been breastfeeding Colt for 6 full months! I am very excited about that since Clay only got breastmilk for 6 weeks. With everything going on right now, I am so happy to have Colt on breastmilk instead of formula because it is SO expensive! I have also been doing research on formula, but I will also go into more detail on that later. So I have made it to my 1st goal with breastfeeding. I plan on going for another 3 months and then reevaluating where we stand then. Nine months is a good goal, although I DO plan on going for the full 1st year.
